Marlboro County High School hosted the fourth Annual STEM Night Fever Expo at the Gym lobby on April 24th, Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.  The event’s theme is “Moving Forward with STEM” which aims to continue to inspire high school students at the idea of discovery and invention and provide an interesting venue to increase STEM literacy that would prepare them for their effective involvement in an increasingly technological society. The event showcased interactive activities from the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics departments and students justified the principles for each demonstration or projects they have designed.

Parents, guardians, including children enjoyed the science demos for physical science, biology, chemistry, physics, and materials science; STEM projects from math students; engineering and architecture designs; Maze Game, Write your name in Binary Code, and Marketing in STEM from the business computer and marketing department; Vans Customs Shoes design and chromatography from art students, and the Lung Capacity demo from health science.

Dr John Lane, interim superintendent extended his warm welcome to all and thanked the STEAM teachers and students for making the event possible. Mr Benjamin Goodwin, assistant principal concluded the short program with a very inspiring message on the role of STEM in everyday life.

Refreshments were served to all the guests after the event.  The sponsors of the expo include   Marlboro County School District through Dr John Lane, Marlboro County Economic Development Partnership Board through Mr Evander Johnakin for the pizza, Rotary Club of Bennettsville #6224, Pepsi of Bennettsville,  BIIG Concepts & Solvs through Mr Benjamin Goodwin, and Francis Marion University through Dr Cindi Nixon for accepting and funding the research project, “Bridging the Gap between the School and the Community through STEM.”

The following participating teachers and students made the fourth annual STEM Night Fever Expo a resounding success. Congratulations and job well done is extended by Mr Derwin Farr, principal, to all the participants and staff at Marlboro County High School.
