Mrs. Mulki

Mrs. Smrithy Mulki, E3 Lead Teacher of Marlboro County High School was chosen by the Palmetto State Teachers Association  to participate in the March 2019 STAR (Strategies for Teacher Advancement Renewal) seminar.  STAR is a program of the Foundation for Professional Development, a statewide program designed to recognize and reward outstanding veterans in South Carolina.  To be able to apply as a STAR, the teacher must have taught in the public school system in South Carolina for at least five years and must be an outstanding teacher.  Mrs. Mulki will attend the STAR seminar on the 25th to the 29th of March, 2019 at the St Christopher Conference Center on Seabrook Island, near Charleston.  This is an all-expense paid activity covered by the foundation including private room, meals, and travel.  Through grants and contributions from businesses, the Foundation for Professional Development pays all expenses (accommodations, travel, and substitute pay) for the weeklong seminar.  Only a total of 10 teachers per seminar are selected from around the state for the two seminars each year.

The STAR program is the only one of its kind in South Carolina and is modeled after a highly successful program in North Carolina (NC Center for the Advancement of Teaching) which has been operating for over 25 years.

Mrs. Smrithy Mulki is Marlboro County High School’s Teacher of the Year and was awarded Excellence in teaching Algebra 1 for SY 2018-2019, She is extremely excited for this opportunity and proud to represent the high school and Marlboro County School District. She would like to extend her appreciation to Mr. Derwin Farr, Marlboro County High School Principal, Mrs. Kandace Cannon and Mrs. Judith Davis for their strong recommendation letters which helped her to be a STAR.   Finally, Mrs. Mulki would like to express her deep and sincere appreciation to all her colleagues who supported her in every way. She would also like to thank all students at the high school for the respect they have extended to her. On the whole, she would like to thank her students for they have been extremely receptive and appreciative of all of her instruction and her ability to conduct both a collaborated and differentiated atmosphere that is conducive for teaching in her classroom.  This assists her students in reaching their full potential in the field of mathematics and to become emerging leaders not only in high school but for all of their post-secondary school endeavors.
